Transforming education financing requires the need for UNESCO's support in carrying out diagnostic assessments in the region. This was underlined by the Minister of Education at the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4)-Education 2030 High-Level Steering Committee (HLSC) Leaders Meeting and the World Summit on Teachers. The event was held in Santiago, Republic of Chile.

 

Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh also highlighted SEAMEO's initiatives in pursuit of the SDG4 such as the Greening Education Plan.

 

The Minister of Education as the President of the SEAMEO Council also took part in the Plenary Session on Teacher Policies to Address Teacher Shortages and Improve Working Conditions. In the session, Yang Berhormat shared several of SEAMEO's initiatives in supporting teacher development policies, and emphasised the importance of regional cooperation and commitment in strengthening comprehensive teacher policies.

 

The Summit witnessed the adoption of the Santiago Consensus, which outlines shared commitments to address the global teacher shortage, improve working conditions, and elevate the teaching profession through coordinated policy actions and sustained investment in education.
